Abstract

473,426. Half-tone screens for intaglioprinting processes. HINTSCHES, K. Nov. 2, 1936, No. 8363. [Class 98 (ii)] Intaglio-printing cylinders or blocks for use in printing half - tones on rough - surfaced materials such as leather-cloth, wallpaper, or fabrics, are prepared by first printing a line screen and a dot screen into one another, printing the resulting screen into a patterned film and copying this onto the printing surface of the cylinder or block. A 30-line screen and a 15-dot screen may be successively or simultaneously printed on a film and the image on the film copied onto the pattern film, areas of which, in which no screening is required, being protected with lacquer. The resulting negative is then printed on the cylinder or block which is afterwards etched in known manner. The half-tone screen film and pattern film may also be printed onto a separate film so that both are available for further use.
