[Class 125 (ii)] A machine for filling containers with liquids particularly liquids which subsequently solidify, e.g. floor or shoe polish, ointment, or solid brilliantine, of the type comprising a supply tank with valve controlled orifices, is transportable, has agitators to keep the liquid in the tank in motion, preventing formation of skin and maintaining uniformity of temperature and density throughout the liquid, and has means for varying the height of the machine with respect to the surface upon which the receptacles to be filled stand. The frame 1 of the machine comprises two side members 1a connected at their upper ends by strips 1b and their lower ends by tie bars 1c. Mounted between the strip 1a is a block 2 receiving a screwed spindle 4 with hand. wheel 5, the lower end of the spindle being secured in a boss 7 on a member 11 carrying downwardly-extending members 13 carrying the tank 14. Spigots 15 on the ends of members 13 slide in guides 16 on the inner faces of frame members 1a. The frame is mounted on wheels 17 on rails 17a. On the bottom of the tank from end to end thereof is a projection 18, Figs. 3, 5 with a slot 19 in which is secured a bar 20 having perforations such as 20a screw - threaded to receive pouring nozzles 21. The passage of liquid through each nozzle is controlled by a needle valve 22, the upper end of which passes through a bar 27 and is secured to a bar 22a pivotally connected to arm 23 carried by a shaft 24, operable manually by a lever 26 outside the tank. The guiding member 30 for the valve rods 22 is perforated to permit passage of liquid to the nozzles, and the perforations are covered with gauze. The tank has a removable cover 31. A shaft 32 in the tank carries a series of agitators 33. One end of this shaft extends outside the tank and carries an arm 34 operated by a link 44. from an arm 43, driven through reduction gearing 42 from an electric motor 36. The nozzles may be heated by a tube 45 connected to a steam or hot water supply and beneath this tube is a dished body 44a embracing the extreme lower end of the nozzles to form an air jacket around them. The space between the dished body and the nozzles may be filled with lagging. The tank is provided with lagging 46.
