Abstract

472,136. Hurricane lanterns. JARDINE, D. P., and CLEGHORN, M. E. Sept. 2, 1936, No. 24052. [Class 75 (iv)] In a tubular hurricane lantern in which a portion 3 of the metal part 4 of the chimney is cut away sufficiently to allow of the removal and replacement of the glass chimney 1, said cut-away portion is normally covered by a movable metal part 10 which slides around and within the fixed metal part 4 and is held by means of a bent-over portion 12 on a ring 13 within the chimney head 14. The top of the chimney head may carry a platform or receptacle 20 for drying or heating purposes.
