Abstract
470,946. Float - actuated valves. INDIA GENERAL NAVIGATION & RAILWAY CO., Ltd., and HUMPHREY, W. R. Sept. 17, 1936, No. 25306. [Class 135] The supply of steam or water for a steam or hydraulic pump for pumping water into or out of a tank 16, for example, the hotwell of a steam plant, is controlled by a rotary disc valve 2 actuated by a float 15 in the tank 16. The valve 2 comprises an upper cup-shaped part 2a connected by a narrow central part to an enlarged base 6 having openings which co-operate with ports in a seat 7 for controlling the passage of steam or water from an inlet 10b to an outlet 10a. The downward pressure on the base part 6 of the valve is balanced by the upward pressure on the cup-shaped part 2a and holes may be provided in the base part 6 to provide a further balance of the valve member.
