468,730. Book covers. GRUPE, W. F. Sept. 1, 1936, No. 23950. [Class 16] The permanent cover of a magazine or the like is formed of paper stock and comprises side members formed of two or more coextensive plies folded coincidentally upon and secured to one another. As shown, the blank, which is printed &c. on part or the whole of the outside face, has the end portions 10a<1> folded over and secured by adhesive to form cover sides of double thickness. The free ends 10e<1> of the portions 10a<1> may meet on the back 18 of the cover, or they may overlap. In one form, the portions 10a<1> are long enough to be folded reversely to provide end or fly leaves. In one method of manufacture, a web of paper printed on its upper surface is passed between an upper pressure roller and a lower roller supplied with adhesive from a container by further rollers, then folded laterally by means not described, then passed between a pair of pressure rollers to bond the folded portions together, and finally passed between cutting-rollers which cut the web into finished covers.
