[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] Apparatus for a coiled endless film is set in operation by coin action and is stopped under the control of the film. As shown., the film 24 in a projector is coiled on a. plate 18 having a frusto-conical boss 19, and freely rotatable on pivots 20, 21. Radial rollers 26 on a hinged cruciform or other cover 25 hold the coils in place, and the film is drawn from the innermost coil over an angularly-disposed roller 29, and fed from pins or rollers 30, between pins or rollers 31, to the outermost coil. The usual starting- lever 3 has an extension 2 carrying a contact 4, in the motor circuit, which is pushed into engagement with a contact 5 when a bell-crank lever 10, 12 is operated through a Bowden connection 16, by coinfreeing mechanism. The lever 3 carries a bolt 34 which is withdrawn from a notch in the film edge when the contacts are engaged ; the bolt, during its subsequent engagement with the film edge, maintains engagement between the contacts, and permits a spring 13 to separate the contacts when it again enters a film notch. According to the Provisional Specification, the whole apparatus may be enclosed in a box carrying the projection screen.. Coin action weight.-The Provisional Specification also describes a pivoted coin guide which carries a roller and tilts to engage the roller with a curved strip replacing the extension 2 ; the consequent movement of the strip engages the contact on the curved strip with another contact to close the motor circuit, and the film is freed by the withdrawal of the bolt from the notch therein.
