467,997. Echo - sounding apparatus. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and WRIGHT, G. M. Dec. 27, 1935, No. 35868. Drawings to Specification. [Class 118 (ii)] A cathode-ray tube is used as an indicator for an echo-sounding apparatus, the beam, which passes normally across the screen in parallel lines, being started as the sound is emitted and deflected when the echo is received, the position of the beam when deflection occurs indicating the depth. The rate of movement of the beam is adjusted so that readings are given directly in fathoms, the oscillators being controlled by an electrically maintained tuning fork. Different ranges are provided for by adjusting the oscillators to beat at ten times or at one-tenth of their normal frequency. Specification 406,903 is referred to.
