Abstract
467,476. Confectionery. BARKER & DOBSON, Ltd., and WATSON, G. M., Dec. 28, 1936, No. 35471. [Class 28 (i)] [Also in Group XV] A combined toy and sweetmeat comprises an exterior shell 5 of chocolate or other confection preferably in egg-form moulded in two or more sections and a wooden spindle 6 rotatably mounted in bearings 7 and 8 and having attached to it two polygonal or circular discs 9 on which a picture band 10 is mounted, the pictures appearing at a window 12 by rotation of the spindle 6. The pictures may be of an educational character such as letters with pictorial representations of corresponding articles. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the picture band 10 has two series of axially spaced pictures selectively positioned on a level with the window 12 by longitudinal displacement of the spindle 6. In the construction shown in Fig. 3 two axially spaced windows 12a, 12b are provided to view the two series of pictures and the spindle 6 has collars 11 for maintaining it axially in bearings 7 and 8. Fig. 4 shows a construction in which the pictures are illuminated interiorly by a dry battery and lamp 15, 16, the circuit of which is made by a switch 17 when the protruding end of the spindle 6a is gripped to rotate the picture band. In this construction the shell comprises an inner shell 5a of light sheet metal or papiermache carrying the bearings for the spindle, and an outer shell 18 of chocolate or other confection moulded on the inner shell and indented longitudinally and transversely at 19 to facilitate piece-meal removal.
