Abstract

466,117. Making glass bottles. PEARSON, T. F. Nov. 20, 1935, No. 32102. [Class 56] In a machine foi forming bottles, jars, or other glassware, a pair of opposed mould halves or carrier sections 10, 11 are connected to levers 16, 17 pivoted at 18, 19 and pivotally connected at 22, 23 to links 24, 25 pivoted to a cross-head 28, such that displacement of the crosshead moves the mould sections 10, 11 slidably and rectilinearly along a support 12. The arrangement is such that the cross-head and links 24, 25 are locked in line, the cross-head and the axes of the links lying in a common plane, when the mould is closed with the levers 16, 17 at an acute angle to the links, but when the mould is opened, the links 24, 25 form obtuse angles both with the crosshead and with the levers 16, 17. Lugs 13, 14 on the sections 10, 11 have a pin-and-slot, lost-motion connection with the levers 16, 17. The lengths of the links 24, 25 are adjustable. The cross-head 28 is connected by a rod 29 to a roller 30 engaged by resilient means with a cam so that the cross-head is displaced in a direction at right angles to that wherein the sections 10, 11 move.
