464,059. Guards for barbed wire fences. ROBINSON, S., and ROBINSON & CO. (LIVERPOOL), Ltd., J. H. Oct. 12, 1935, No. 28197. [Class 45] A guard for application to a barbed wire fence, to prevent damage to the clothing of a person climbing over the fence, comprises a tubular member which wholly or partially encloses a length of the barbed wire. The guard may consist of a metal tube with a longitudinal slot therein, which may be straight or slightly curved. Preferably, the guard comprises a pair of half-tubes 1, 2 hinged at 5 a spring 6 tending to maintain the halves open., Flanges 9, 10 are provided at the ends of the half-tubes, the flange 10 having a lip 11 adapted to be engaged by a spring-pressed latch 13, pivoted at 14 on the flange 9, in order to lock the half-tubes together. Transverse webs, notched to accommodate a barbed wire', may be provided in the half-tubes, to limit the longitudinal movement of the guard to the distance between the barbs on the wire.
