Abstract

459,921. Floor - polishing pads. BAKER, R. F., Hatt Common, Newbury, Berkshire, and PREECE, H. A., 91, High Street, Thame, Oxfordshire. July 16, 1935, No. 20289. [Class 19] The floor polishing or cleaning device is of the type having a continuous strip of textile material removable in layers to expose successive clean surfaces and is characterized by a base 1, Fig. 2, freely and pivotally mounted so as to be completely reversible. Two rectangular blocks 1, Fig. 1, are pivotally mounted on a cross-shaft 2 and are connected by a pin 8 to prevent relative movement. Textile or other material 9 is wrapped completely round each block to form a number of superposed layers secured by nails 10, Fig. 3, or other suitable means such as adhesive at front and rear sides. Felt pads 11 serve as shock absorbers. Material 9 is removed by cutting adjacent the nails 10. When all the material is removed the blocks 1 may be replaced by newly covered blocks by releasing clips 8. Blocks 1 can be recovered. Layers 9 may be held in place by spring clips 13 as in Fig. 4.
