[Class 139] A clock dial is formed by attaching flexible material 2 (leather, sheet rubber or textile fabric such as velvet or oiled silk or cloth) over the front of a disc 1 of stiff material (plywood or moulded artificial resin). The disc 1 is flanged forwardly at the edge to form a space 3 for the hands 15 which is covered by a glass 13 or a peripheral ring may be attached to a flat disc. Material 2 is glued to the front face of the disc 1 and the marginal portion wrapped over and formed into pleats 4 held in position by a draw-thread 5. The movement 6 has a threaded sleeve 7 which screws into a bush 8 in the disc 1. Symbols 9 are attached as by adhesive to the dial. The clock is attached by screws 11 and a distance piece 12 to a base 10. The glass 13 is held at the lower end by part 12 and at the top by a clip 14. In a modification, Fig. 2, the glass is dispensed with and the pleats of the material at the back of disc 1 are held by a plate 16 which is retained by the movement 6, and also, if desired, by screws 17. The flexible material may be secured to the back of the disc by adhesive or tacks, or elastic at the edge of the material, or a disc of similar material may be glued to the edge of the covering material. The symbols 9 may be of plated metal having screws, or pointed shanks, or split shanks which are passed through the disc and opened out at the rear thereof. These split shanks may be used to hold the material at the back and the second disc 16. The movement may be spring-driven or electric and held by screws to the dial.
