[Class 28 (i)] [See also Group XI] An electric toasting, grilling, or like device comprises a base 3, a resistance element 4 removably secured to and upstanding from the base, and a food-supporting frame 1 which is secured to the base by lugs 11 which enter holes 13 in the base. The food contacts with wires 10 carried by transverse bars 9 and is supported by the lower flanges of the frames 24 which are pivoted to the end frames 8 at 26. The outer sides of the frames 24 comprises a sheet of transparent heat-resisting material 25. The lower flanges of the frames 24 are slotted to receive the wires 10, and the end frames 8 are provided with stop-means for limiting the pivotal movements of the frames 24. The element 4 is wound on sheets of mica 16, slotted at their edges to hold the wire or ribbon, and clamped at their lower edges between plates 17 which form a supporting bracket which is secured to the bottom of a box-like casing 18 secured to the base by screws 21. The contact pins 19 project outwardly from the box 18 and are enclosed in a shroud connected to the box 18 and forming a guide for the connecting socket of the supply wires. When a switch is incorporated, it is mounted on the box 18 so that all the current carrying parts are detachable as a unit from the base which may be cut away to allow the switch lever to extend outside the base. The base 3 consists of a flat plate with downwardly turned flanges, the adjacent edges of the flanges being connected together by strips 15 of insulating material.
