Abstract

456,809. Date indicators. PAAUWE, P. J., 54, Pieter van der Doesstraat, Amsterdam. March 18, 1936, No. 8088. [Class 106 (iv)] A disc 2 rotating with the hour hand of a watch or clock carries a pin 1 which engages a lever 3 pivoted at 4 to the overhanging part of a lever 7 pivoted at 8. The lever 3 is thus moved into contact with a step 6 on the lever 7 and this latter lever is then rocked clockwise about its pivot 8 until the pin 3 moves along the inner side of the lever, Fig. 2. The pin 1 then restores the lever 7 by engaging the surface 10 but on the next revolution of the disc 2 the pin 1 cannot engage the lever 3 and the lever 7 is not rocked. Towards the end of this next revolution the pin 1 moves the lever 3 into the position shown in Fig. 1 and the cycle recommences, the lever 7 thus being rocked once every twenty-four hours. The lever 7 carries pawls 11, 14, 18 engaging teeth on the date figure, day-name and month-name rings 12, 16, and 17 respectively. The pawl 18 is normally held out of action by a lever 20 but on the 30th of the month the end of the lever 20 moves into a depression 21 in the date ring 12 and allows the pawl 18 to move nearer to the month-name ring 17. If the month has thirty days the corresponding tooth on the ring 17 projects so far that at the next movement of the lever 7 the pawl 18 advances the month-name ring. If the case of months having thirty-one days the corresponding teeth on the ring 17 do not project so far and consequently are not engaged by the lever 20 until the date ring 12 has moved a further step to indicate " 31 " and to allow the lever 20 to fall into a deeper notch 28 in the ring 12. To move the date ring 12 from " 30 " to " 1 " at the end of a 30-day month, a slider 22 is provided which is moved to the left by the engagement of a pin 25 on the slider with a notch 23, the notches being provided only in those positions corresponding to 30-day months. The slider is then returned by an arm 27 of the lever 7 and advances the date ring 12 by a projection 26a engaging teeth 26.
