Abstract

455,238. Drying films. BANFIELD, A. C., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster. April 15, 1935, No. 11639. [Class 34 (i)] [See also Group XX] Moisture is squeezed from a photographic film 1 during processing by passing the film down one compartment of a partitioned tank 2 partly filled with mercury, the expressed moisture rising to the surface and draining off at an outlet 6. The film may be led under a roller 4 below the partition 3 and upwards through the other compartment. The partition 3 is removable, and is provided with an inflatable tubular rubber rim 5 to form a water seal with the sides of the tank. A saturated solution of potassium carbonate may be placed in the compartment from which the film emerges in order still further to dry the film.
