Abstract

454,853. Filling-machines. LEGG, 0., 21, Goswell Terrace, Goswell Road, London. April 4, 1935, No. 10475. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for pressing material into receptacles two or more ramming heads are provided for continuously operating in separate receptacles, the heads being independently and selectively operated by a common driving means. As shown, two rods 1, 2 have heads 3, 4, provided with suitable openings to allow the filling material to pass through while the heads are being raised. The receptacles 5 and 6 are filled from cyclones 28, 29 respectively from a single input 26. When a ramming head is in use its driving cams 14, which raise its rod intermittently and then allow it to drop, are rotated through clutch 18, 19 and bevel gearing 15, 16 from a common drive 21. Spring 13 absorbs shock as the ramming head falls. The clutches may be controlled by hand or may, as shown, be controlled by the cyclone input valve to allow only that head to be in use which is associated with the receptacle being filled. The invention is stated to be particularly adapted for filling sacks with paper recovered from spoilt cigarettes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 389,964.
