Abstract

In the manufacture of cellulose ester and ether paints, lacquers and enamels, pigment particles enveloped in a mono-molecular layer, according to Specification 406,513, [Group III], are incorporated, shortly after they have been enveloped, in a part only of one, or parts only of some or all of the non-volatile constituents of the coating it is desired to pigment, to produce a stock material ready for mixing with the remaining constituents of said coating. The stock material may contain also sufficient of the volatile constituents of the coating to make the mass workable, and may be rolled out into thin sheets, bands or strips which may be rolled up and stocked in air-tight cans. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to British Specification 406,513 and to U.S.A. Specification 1,986,029.ALSO:In the manufacture of paints, lacquers, and enamels, pigment particles enveloped in a monomolecular layer, according to Specification 406,513, are incorporated, shortly after they have been enveloped, in a part only of one, or parts only of some or all of the non-volatile constituents of the coating it is desired to pigment, to produce a stock material ready for mixing with the remaining constituents of said coating. The stock material may contain also sufficient of the volatile constituents of the coating to make the mass workable, and may be rolled out into thin sheets, bands or strips which may be rolled up and stocked in airtight cans. Specified non-volatile constituents of the coatings are natural or synthetic resins, oils, cellulose esters and ethers, and plasticizers. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to British Specification 406,513 and to U.S.A. Specification 1,986,029.
