Abstract

450,949. Postal-franking machines; feeding sheets. HASLER AKT.-GES. VORM. TELEGRAPHENWERKSTATTE VON G. HASLER, 50, Schwarzthorstrasse, Berne, Switzerland. Oct. 19, 1934, No. 30025. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 23, 1935]. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] In a postal-franking machine, the feeding- mechanism for the material to be franked is automatically thrown out of operation on every revolution of the printing-cylinder, and a member is provided for indicating the position at which the frank will be applied. The material to be franked is inserted under an apertured angle plate 13 secured to the front of the machine, the aperture being so arranged that the frank is applied to the part beneath the aperture. An endless belt 7 extends into the machine and is adapted to co-operate with two pairs of rollers 10, 12 mounted on arms 9, 11 pivoted on a shaft 4. Springs tend to depress the rollers into engagement with the belt, but they are normally held out of contact by means of a plate 16 engaging under the arms and supported by stronger springs 19. The plate 16 is under the control of a forked member 20 pivoted on the shaft 4 and adapted to be rocked by means of a member 21 secured to shaft which can be oscillated by means of a handle 23. The final part of the movement of the shaft 4, after the rollers 10, 12 have been brought into contact with the belt, closes the clutch which sets the belt and the printing- cylinder 1 into operation. The member 20 is locked in operative position by means of a lever 24 adapted to be released, after one revolution of the printing-cylinder, by a cam 28 secured thereon. In case the printing- cylinder should not commence to rotate when the clutch is thrown in, due to parts of the machine having been incorrectly set, the lever 24 can be actuated to release the member 20 by means of a lever 31 adapted to be rocked by a pin 29 secured to the shaft 4.
