Abstract

450,132. Fire-extinguishing grenades. HARTMANN, C. W., 10, Vinkelvej, Lyngby, near Copenhagen. Nov. 25, 1935, No. 32656. [Class 47 (ii)] Relates to grenades of the kind comprising an explosive charge located within an extinguishing material held in a casing, and consists in producing the casing from liquid, or semiliquid paper pulp by a moulding operation. As shown in Fig. 1, the casing 10 is formed in two hemi-spherical parts by moulding in a suitably shaped mould, which is formed with uniformly spaced ribs to produce lines of weakness 48 in the finished casing. The ribs form grooves 54 and ridges 56, Fig. 3, in the casing, the ridges being reduced in thickness, as by grinding, to weaken these lines. In a modification, the casing is formed in one piece. The casing is provided at one end with a depression 16, in which is secured a wooden disc 18 which supports a paper tube 24 carrying the explosive cartridge 26. A filling neck 32 at the opposite end of the casing is closed by a metal cover 36 to which a wooden handle 46 is secured. Specification 450,133 is referred to.
