Abstract
448,088. Actuation of switches. COLE, Ltd., E. K., Priory Crescent, Southend-on-Sea. Nov. 19, 1935, No. 31968. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1934. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Groups XL and XXXIX] A single knob controls the on-and-off switch, the volume control, and a waveband switch or a switch for changing from radio reception to a microphone and loud-speaker system. In one form, the rotation of the knob successively closes the on-and-off switch, actuates the volume control in a direction to increase volume, and finally operates the wave-band or other switch which remains closed when the knob is turned back to its volume-control position. In a modification, the wave-band or other switch is operated when the knob is turned from the volume - control position towards the off-position. The wave-band or other switch 19 is actuated by a cam 17 on a disc 16 having pins 11 .. 14 engaged by the bevelled end of a lever 8 pivoted. at 9 to the volume control 7, the lever 8 being connected by a spring 10 to the shaft 6 of the latter. When the shaft 6 is moved in the direction of the arrow 18, the lever 8 moves the pin 11 downwards, rotating the cam 17 to close switch 19. When the shaft 6 is then returned to the normal position for volume control, the bevelled end of the lever slips over the pin 14, which then occupies the position shown for pin 11, and the other end of the lever moves away from the shaft 6.
