Abstract

447,800. Jointing pipes to plates. RALPH, S. J., INGLIS, G. O., and ALUMINIUM PLANT & VESSEL CO., Ltd., Northfield House, Point Pleasant, Wandsworth, London. April 18, 1935, No. 12035. [Class 99 (i)] [See also Group XII] The plates of a bubbling column are formed with openings 2 having upstanding edges 3 to engage with the vapour pipes 4, which may be formed of stainless steel. The hoods 10 rest on the tops of the pipes 4 and are held in position by bolts 12, and the vapours escape through openings 6. In a modification, the openings 2 are of segmental or sectorlike form so as to leave a central boss which supports the lower end of the bolt. The tubes 4 may have tapered lower ends pressed into the edges 3 by a tapering mandrel.
