Abstract
444,237. Washing apparatus. RUTLEDGE, H. F., 174, Front Street West, Toronto, Canada. Aug. 13, 1935, No. 22820. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1934. [Class 138 (ii)] A container for holding small articles such as stockings whilst they are being washed is formed of thick collapsable cellular material such as sponge rubber. The container is held in the hand and is alternately squeezed and released in the washing water. In the form shown the container comprises a block of sponge rubber 1 having a central pocket 2 and a slit 3 for inserting and removing the articles. In a modification the container comprises a block slit longitudinally so that when squeezed a cavity is formed. In a further modification a flap having a press-stud fastener may be provided for closing the open side of the pocket.
