[Classes 97 (i), 98 (i), and 98 (ii)] Apparatus for printing positive colour kinematographic films of the type in which three small colour-component images are triangularly disposed in each frame from negatives having normal sized images disposed on one or more films comprises two carriages pantographically connected by rods, one carriage having one or more passages for the negative film or films, and the other having only one passage for the positive film, mechanism for the movement of the carriages and of the films being attached to the apparatus to ensure the movement of the carriages at the desired moments. As shown, the frame 26 has two horizontal slides 27, 28 carrying two carriages of which one, 29, has three vertical channels for the passage of the films 21, 22, 23, while the other carriage 30 comprises only one vertical channel to take the positive film 15. Hinged to the carriage 29 at 31 are two rods 32. Hinged to the carriage 30 are two shorter rods 33. The rods 32 and 33 are connected by levers 34 pivoted to the frame 26 at 35. The objective 38 has a focusing screw 39. Between the source of light 40 and the carriage 29 is a rotating shutter 41. The motor shaft 43 drives a spindle 47 intermittently through Maltese-cross mechanism 46. Keyed on the spindle 47 is a plate 48 having a pin 49 on which is hinged a rod 50 attached to the carriage 29. Bevel gears 52 drive a spindle 53 carrying four cams 54 operating feedclaws 56. Registering-pins 57 are slidable on a pin 58 carried by levers 59 having camfollowers 61 engaging cam-grooves in the discs 62. The claws 56 are hinged to a pin 63 connected by rods 64 to levers 65 hinged at 66 and provided with cam-followers 67 engaging in grooves 68 of discs 69 fixed on a spindle 70 driven from spindle 53 by gear .71. The carriage 30 is provided with similar feed-claws, registering-pins and levers. A glass plate may be inserted in the printing beam when printing the colour component record produced by reflection in the lightsplitting device in the taking camera so as to compensate for distortion of the other two records. The objective focusing is simultaneously altered to compensate for the introduction of the plate. The machine may be modified for use when the negatives have been taken on two films or on one film only.
