Abstract
443,541. Rolling ring or roller &c. blanks. BRITISH TIMKEN, Ltd., Cheston Road, Aston, Birmingham.-(Timken Roller Bearing Co. ; Denber Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Sept. 21, 1935, No. 26196. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Shaped cylindrical or conical blanks for finishing to make roller bearing cones, Fig. 5, 6, tapered bearing rollers, Fig. 7, bearing cups for conical roller bearings as in Fig. 8, inner ball races, Fig. 9, or bevel pinion gears, Fig. 10, or plain gears, Fig. 11, &c. are roughly formed to shape in a continuous length by passing a tube 4, or rod, endwise between a pair or three skewed die rolls 6 with helical ribs 7 of several complete turns having a pitch angle C (2 to 20‹), Fig. 3, equal to feed angle b, which form the blanks with a connecting neck 8 between each blank. The blanks can then be machined and cut off in another machine. The rolls are of general cylindrical shape with delivery end tapered away at 9. Specification 443,478 is referred to.
