443,078. Weighing-apparatus. TOLEDO SCALE MANUFACTURING CO., Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. July 9, 1935, No. 19601. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1934. [Class 143] In a weighing - scale having a load receiver superimposed above a housing containing an indicator, a virtual image of the indicator is reflected by a periscopic viewing device to a point above the load receiver. As shown in connection with a weighing scale used on a refrigerating counter 3 where the weightindicating opening 6 for the customer is normally obscured by the counter, a periscopic viewing means embodying two mirrors 21, 24 is attached to the scale housing by brackets 15, 11, 17. The lower mirror projects into the scale housing and the upper mirror is carried on a telescopic portion of the periscope and may be adjusted for inclination by a screw 32. The customer is thus able to view the weight indications through the window 36. The mirror 21 is wider at the end remote from the scale chart, and the mirror 24 is wider than the widest part of the mirror 21, the object being to permit the indication to be read from points not directly opposite the window 36.
