Abstract

442,497. Automatic control of fluid flow. SOC. ANON. INTEGRA, 20, Rue do la Vieille Montagne, Liege, Belgium. May 3, 1934, No. 13436. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 24, 1934]. [Class 38 (iv)] Apparatus for maintaining a desired proportion, which may vary from time to time, between constituents of a gaseous mixture in flow comprises inter-related pendulum devices influenced by the pressures in the conduits of the constituents and controlling through a servomotor the supply of one or more constituents, the sensitivity of the pendulum devices being controllable by means responsive to some quality of the mixture such as its heating capacity. The pressures on both sides of constrictions in supply conduits 2, 3, Fig. 1, are led to pendulum devices, one of which has an electric contact 9 lying between a pair of contacts 9b, 9c on the other. As the pressure in the conduit 3 varies, the contact 9 engages the contact 9b or 9c and operates a valve 12, through a motor 11, to control the supply in the conduit 2. The pendulum devices consist of arcuate tubes 14, Fig. 2, containing a heavy liquid 5 and supported on a knife edge. The devices are fitted with a sliding weight 8, the movement of which varies their sensitivity and can be effected by a cord 8a from a calorimeter or other instrument 13.
