442,452. Spinning-tops; games. LOMNITZ, A., 2, Gordon Square, London. Aug. 23, 1934, No. 24290. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1933. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 25, 1935.] [Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii)] A top has a curved surface 2 in the shape of a hemisphere or part of it, on which surface the top starts spinning, the top eventually changing its position so as to spin on a multi-coloured flange 1 flattened in several places by grinding so that the top can only spin on a few distinct parts of the flange. The top can be set in motion by a knob 4 or by a mechanical drive. The top can be made of wood, celluloid, metal, pressed or cast material or a combination of these materials. The surface 2 can be made of crossed wires. The top can be provided with means for producing a humming sound or spark effects by means of flints when the top assumes its second position. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts describes a top without flattened surfaces on the flange 1, states that the top can be used in games by giving different values to the different colours on the top, states that the top can be used to actuate contacts in two different planes, and states that the knob can be made detachable from the top or made to fit detachably into a bottle cork.
