Abstract
441,015. Moulding celluloid balls. JAQUES & SON, Ltd., J., and JAQUES, J. M., 37, Kirby Street, Hatton Garden, London. July 10, 1934, No 20214. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding balls of celluloid wherein two halves are stamped out of hot sheet material, fitted and sealed together with acetone at their overlapping edges and the rough ball is expanded or blown within a mould immersed in hot water, that diameter A of the mould with which the seam of the ball registers is larger than the diameter B at right angles by an amount equal to the shrinkage which occurs at the seam of the ball on cooling. The shrinkage may be one or two ten-thousandths of an inch. The ball may be held in position in the mould by a fixative such as petroleum jelly. The mould may be in two or more parts 1, 2 provided with vents 3 for escape of air during blowing.
