Abstract
439,860. Drying wood. JUNCKER, G. F., 23, Rolighedsvej, Copenhagen. March 8, 1934, No. 7440. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 10, 1934]. [Class 34 (ii)] [See also Group VIII] In the drying of wood by circulating and heating water vapour evolved by the wood, air being excluded, the vapour is circulated at atmospheric - pressure and at a temperature of about 170‹ C. The wood may be dried on trucks in a chamber a, the vapour being moved helically by fans d past dampers e, and heating pipes c, and through the cars g. The wood may be stacked on the cars in a particular manner to avoid uneven contraction. At the beginning of its treatment the wood is warmed up in compartment j by steam from the main stage, and the drying is completed by hot air in a compartment k. The water content of the wood may then be raised to 5 or 6 per cent by steaming at 100‹ C., in chamber b.
