Abstract
439,449. Cleansing and rinsing apparatus. SPENCER, A. B., and SPENCER, A. H., 226, Stanley Road, Bootle, Liverpool, and BRATBY & HINCHLIFFE, Ltd., Sandford Street, Ancoats, Manchester. Dec. 22, 1934, No. 36778. [Class 138 (i)] In apparatus of the kind which has nozzles for directing jets of cleansing or rinsing liquid against a surface, mechanical nozzle-clearing means are thrust through and withdrawn from the nozzles by automatic means to maintain the nozzles clear and to control the projection of the jets through the nozzles. In the construction shown, bottles to be cleaned are mounted above nozzles 4 provided in the upper surface of a container 2. A plate 1 is slidably mounted on guide rods 5 and is provided with rods 6 which pass through the nozzles 4 when the plate 1 is raised. The plate is supported by cams 7 secured to shafts 8 which are connected to each other and to a bar 11. The bar is connected to one arm of a bell-crank lever, the other arm having a roll 14 in engagement with a cam 15 carried by a rotatable shaft 16. As the shaft 16 rotates the rods 6 are raised and lowered, their downward movement being ensured by springs 17 engaging the plate 1. The bar 11 may be connected to the lever 12 by a spring connection so that breakage of the apparatus is avoided if the rods 6 fail to rise or fall. The plate 1 is connected indirectly to an indicating device 22 by means of which obstruction of the working of the plate may be detected.
