436,354. Cabinets for medical treatment. POLLAK, J. E., 20, Holborn, London. -(B÷hm, P. ; 35, Neue Mainzerstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany) April 8, 1935, No. 10866. [Class 81 (ii)] A cabinet a for medical treatment, having an hermetically sealable door and an observation window, is lined with sheet aluminium or other metal b, or internally covered with a light coloured coating, and is provided with treatment lamps g, h, i, high-frequency electric apparatus, and means for removing air therefrom, and supplying air, treated or otherwise, thereto. Lamp g is a quartz lamp, h is an irradiation unit giving a continuous spectrum, and i a unit comprising separate radially arranged lamps emitting rays from infra-red to ultra-violet. Air is removed by a pump connected to a cock-controlled pipe f and is supplied through a pipe k including a control cock n and a filter o which may comprise a vessel containing purifying or medicating liquid, for example, sea-water or equivalent salt solution, and an atomizer. A branch pipe l from the pipe k leads to a manometer m. Sub- or super-atmospheric pressures may be maintained in the cabinet. A seat e is provided having a metal contact plate e<1> connected to one pole of a high-frequency electric apparatus, the other pole being connected to the lining b, this arrangement being stated to effect treatment of the patient and ionization of the air. Oxygen may be supplied through a pipe j. The air in the cabinet may be cooled by an electric circulating fan r and an evaporator p connected by pipes s with cooling apparatus t, the evaporator p having a controlling screen q. In order to renew the air in the cabinet between treatments or to supply treated air at any time a fan y is connected to a pipe u containing evaporation units w sprayed with water from nozzles x and a filter z, the pipe u being connected to the cabinet by a pipe u<1> controlled by a shutter u<11>. The electric leads to the lampsÀg, h, i, and the seat e are led out through the rear wall a<1> and terminate in plugs or the equivalent. Instruments indicating the condition of the air in the cabinet are positioned adjacent the inner side of the observation window.
