J., 28, Albert Grove, Longsight, both in Manchester, and GREENHALGH, S., 42, Granville Road, Pendleton, Salford. March 9, 1934, No. 7492. [Class 138 (i)] A carriage a adapted to run on the floor carries an endless mop i passing over rollers g, g<1>, and between two rollers h, k, the lower one of which drives the mop and expresses water therefrom to be collected in a tank b after passing through a filter f. The roller k is driven by an electric motor l which also drives a pump. The pump withdraws water from the tank b and delivers it through sprinkler pipes p, s<1>. Connection to the pipe p is through a flexible pipe r<1> which may instead be connected to a pipe t<1> when the machine is provided with a scrubbing brush t. The brush is detachable and is driven in the opposite direction to that of the mop. A clutch-controlled drive may be provided between the motor l and the flow wheels d. The machine is preferably provided with a surrounding apron of rubber extending to the floor and serving to enclose the water fed by the pump. The machine may be fitted with a further brush or mop for cleaning the sides or corners of a room. A teasing or opening wheel or shaking mechanism may be provided to counteract the flattening action of the rollers h, k.
