Abstract

432,305. Electric hand-irons. JOHNSTONE, W. H., 135, Castleton Road, Preston, Lancashire. April 21, 1934, No. 12033. [Class 138 (ii)] An electric hand-iron 1 is provided with two or more thermostats each responsive to a different temperature. One of these thermostats 9 is always operative and is responsive to a comparatively low temperature. The other thermostat 8 is connected in parallel with the thermostat 9 through a switch 13 positioned adjacent the iron handle and, when the switch is closed, operates to break the heating circuit 11 at a higher temperature. By this arrangement the same iron may function at different temperatures for treating different classes of articles, for example artificial silk and cotton. Thermostats as described in Specification 261,332, [Class 64 (ii)], may be used.
