[Class 58] [See also Group XXX] A portable machine for the aeration and sacking of grain, grass seed, and similar granular material comprises a bucket elevator 8, Fig. 1, the framework 1 of which is pivoted on a horizontal shaft 2 carried by an adjustable upright 4, a fan disposed close to D, a hopper 10 for directing the material into sacks, and a small electric motor 12 for driving the fan and elevator which is mounted on a bracket 12a attached to the framework 1. The upright 4 is adjustable around, and also to various vertical positions on, a vertical shaft 5 on a wheeled base 6. The bottom of the hopper has two discharge openings which are shut alternately by a flap 10b. In a modification the elevator framework is supported by a wheel 17, Fig. 4, which sets itself automatically in the direction of motion, and the outlet of a suction fan 18b is connected by a flexible hose 20 to a sheet metal collector 21 or bag 21x. The plate 23 on which the material falls is provided with adjustable spreading rails 24, Fig. 5, to distribute the grain in a thin layer. In a further modification the grain is discharged from the elevator on to an endless belt driven at high speed. In a still further modification the base 40, Fig. 7, has stationary felt 7<c>, wheels 7<a>, and a vertically movable wheel 7b which is raised and lowered relatively to the base by mechanism actuated by a treadle 48.
