Abstract

[Class 34 (i)] [See also Group XII] In a roller-way conveyer for furnaces, each roller comprises a series of metallic charge-supporting discs e mounted onanairor water-cooled shaft a and alternating with refractory spacing tubes f, the shaft a being fitted at one or both ends with springs or screws n for maintaining the assembled series of discs and spacers under axial compression. The spacers consist of an outer layer f<1> of interlocking segmental block formation and an inner lining of compressed granular or powdered refractory material, these tubular sections being retained in position by flanged tyres e<1> and lips e<5>, e‹, on the discs e. As shown in Fig. 4, the lips e<5>, e<6> are provided on both sides of radial fingers e<4> which are formed by cutting slots e<3> in the reduced web e<2> of the disc.
