Abstract
A high gloss transparent coloured varnish for overprinting a picture printed in black or other colour consists of 120 parts of clear resin ester, 40 parts of chinawood oil, 40 parts of slightly boiled linseed oil, 6 parts of petroleum, 5 pairs of cobalt linoleate and colouring matter which may be oil-soluble colours or highly glazing insoluble pigments or both. Examples of suitable colouring matter are rhodamine base dissolved in olein, Berlin blue, alizarin madder lake, milori blue, and Sudan yellow.
