Abstract
Monoazo dyes are made by coupling a diazotised aminothiazole sulphonic acid with a benzothiazole containing in the 2-position an acylacetic acid amide residue or a substitution product thereof. They dye cotton in yellow shades which can be discharged to a pure white. In an example the dyestuff dehydrothiotoluidine disulphonic acid --> 2-acetoacetylamino-4-methylbenzothiazole is described. Other components specified are the mono- and disulphonic acids of dehydrothio-m-xylidine and primuline; 2 - acetoacetylamino - benzothiazole, 2 - acetoacetylamino - 4 - methoxybenzothiazole and 2 - acetoacetylamino - 6 - methylbenzothiazole. Specifications 17328/97, [Class 2], 17027/12, 25029/13, 6644/14, and 310,354, [all in Class 2 (iii)], are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to acylacetylaminothiazoles of the formula T--NHCOCH2Ac in which T=a thiazole residue or the residue of an arylenethiazole, e.g. the residue of a thiazole derived from an aminobenzene, naphthalene, carbazole, diphenylene oxide, diphenylene sulphide, acenaphthene, fluorenone, fluorene or cumarane or their derivatives, e.g. alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, nitro, amino or substituted amino, sulphonic or carboxylic derivatives, and Ac=an acyl residue, e.g. acetyl, propionyl, butyryl, benzoyl, chlorbenzoyl, methylbenzoyl and nitrobenzoyl. Dyestuffs from the following additional components are described: the 2-aceto- or benzoylacetylamino derivatives of 5-methoxy-, 6 - ethoxy - or 6 - chlorbenzothiazole and (2<1> : 1<1> - naphtho) - thiazole, 2 - acetoacetylamino 4 - methyl - or 4 : 5 - dimethylthiazole, 2 - acetoacetylamino - 4 - phenyl - or 4 : 5 - diphenylthiazole, 2 - benzoylacetylamino - 4 - methylthiazole, 6 - acetoacetylamino - 2 - methylbenzothiazole. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
