[Class 102 (ii)] In apparatus for dispensing liquids, e.g. oil or corrosive liquids, of the type in which the liquid dispensed is displaced by another liquid, e.g. water, a number of containers 1 for different liquids are employed, and the amount dispensed is indicated by a water meter 15. The liquid, e.g. oil, is displaced from a container 1, by water admitted through a pipe 2, and is discharged through pipes 6, 9 to a corresponding sight glass 30 and hose 11. The ends of the pipes 2 and 6 are funnel shaped and are covered with gauze. The hoses are mounted on a panel 10, so arranged that, when one hose is removed, the others are locked. The liquid dispensed is shown by an indicator 26. There is a separate counter geared with the meter 15 for each hose. The water is forced into the tank 1 from a tank 19 by a pump 18 through pipes 20, 17, the meter 15, pipes 13, 4 and a cock 3. Make-up water is supplied from a tank 27 to a valve box 16. To fill the tank 1 the end 8 of the pipe 6 is connected to the supply and the cock 3 is set to make connection between the pipe 2 and a pipe 5. Water is then withdrawn from the tank 1 by a pump 24 and discharged to the tank 19. Finally air is expelled through a cock 28 by forcing water into the tank by a pump 25. Alternatively water from the mains may be employed, the pumps 18 and 25 being dispensed with.
