Abstract

Rubber goods of differential thickness are made from vulcanized or unvulcanized aqueous dispersions of rubber and the like by the heat deposition principle, such as is described in Specification 284,608, [Class 70], and modified in Specifications 292,964, 330,520, 335,621, [all in Class 70], and 351,012, by maintaining the different parts of the forming surface upon which respectively the different parts of various thickness of the rubber article are to be deposited in forming position in relation to the dispersion for different periods of time corresponding to the various thicknesses respectively of the several parts of the rubber article to be produced, or by maintaining the forming surface wholly immersed in the dispersion, and varying the period of heating of different parts thereof. In an example, a cot is produced with walls of 0,2, 0,7 and 1,5-1,7 mms. thickness by maintaining a steel former of a total volume of ccs. heated to 95 DEG C. for 5, 10 and 30 seconds respectively, for different parts of its length in contact with the aqueous dispersion of rubber.
