[Class 52 (v)] [See also Group XX] A column support for an adjustable source of light or rays comprises a longitudinal slot 2 in which is located an arm 9 carrying the source, the arm 9 being movable horizontally in the direction of its length and being movable vertically. The column comprises two tubes 1 of trapeziform section interconnected at top and bottom, the wide faces being formed by plates 3, the edges 4 of which constitute guide ways for rollers 5 of a vertically slidable carriage. The latter comprises rollers 8 between which the arm 9 moves, and is connected to counterweights 14 by cables 13.
