[Class 130] A filtering-element a placed in the holder b comprises a perforated body made of a magnes ium silicate earth which has been subjected to a high temperature, a sleeve c<2> holding the element in place. The element is formed with a central perforation and with flutings or screwthreads along the outside. The sleeve c<2> is connected to a metallic tube c<1> which has a frictional fit on the end of the holder. In a modification, the filter is held in place by a shoulder formed inside the outer end of the holder, which is screwed on to the inner or mouthpiece end, and is lined with metal at the part to receive the cigarette. The filter may be re-conditioned after use by heating.
