Abstract

418,898. Thermionic valve circuits. VIERLING, O., 7, Kloeden Strasse, Berlin.- (Assignee of Jacobs, C. T. ; Chatham, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 26, 1933, No. 12225. Convention date, April 27, 1932. [Class 40 (v).] In apparatus wherein the vibrations of the strings of a soundboardless piano are electrostatically or electromagnetically converted into electrical oscillations and taken to a loudspeaker 42, to assist in imitating piano tone a tone-modulating circuit with a curved translation-frequency characteristic may be introduced, comprising a tapped inductance or autotransformer 33, a variable resistance 35, and if desired an adjustable tuning condenser A by which also the harmonic structure may be controlled. In such a tone-modulating circuit, varying the resistance has the effect of rotating the transmission-frequency characteristic curve so that higher or lower frequencies are relatively emphasised. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 296,690, [Class 88 (ii)], and 393,612 (as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts), [Group XXXVIII].
