Abstract

417,724. Garden edging. WILDING, F., Tilebarn, Shipbrook Road, Northwich, Cheshire. April 11, 1933, No. 10777. [Class 6 (ii).] A border device for lawns comprises a strip of metal &c. of right-angle section, one limb, which is adapted to lie horizontally on the surface of the turf, being transversely slit at spaced positions to permit of the strip being bent and being provided with teeth depending from said limb and disposed intermediate the slits thereof, said teeth being adapted to be embedded in the ground. The horizontal limb 1 of the strip is provided with semicircular lugs 3 which are downwardly offset and formed with V-shaped slots 6 to accommodate V- shaped teeth 4 having split heads 5 which lie flush with the limb 1. The slits 2 in the limb 1 are closed, when the strip is bent outwardly, by quadrant-like extensions 7 formed on the limb 1. When the strip is to be bent inwardly the extensions 7 are snapped off and the edges of the slits 2 made to overlap. Adjacent lengths of the device may be locked together by a downturned tongue on one length engaging a slot in another. According to the Provisional Specification, the teeth 4 may be formed integrally with the limb 1 by cutting slits therein and bending down the material therebetween.
