Abstract

416,682. Vacuum cleaners. HARKNESS, W. F., 2, Rugby Mansions, Addison Bridge, West Kensington, London. March 23, 1933, No. 8774. [Class 8 (i).] Anumberof flexible strips 7 are attached at one edge to a shaft 6 and arranged in one or more diametrically opposite pairs extending the whole length of the suction nozzle 1. The width of the strips is such that when a pair lies parallel to the suction nozzle mouth, the suction passage is almost closed. The height of the shaft 6 above the floor level is less than the width of a strip 7. The shaft 6 is preferably driven by floor wheels 3 through gearing 4, 5.
