Abstract
414,379. Instructional toy. RIPPON, P. I. V., 64, Abbey Road, St. John's Wood, London. Feb. 1, 1933, No. 3091. [Classes 132 (iii) and 146 (ii).] An instructional toy comprises in a container one or a number of movable elements bearing symbols and displaceable by an operating element bearing a symbol and having a projection or projections so that a symbol or symbols related to the symbol on the operating element is or are exposed through a window in the container. The device comprises a series of spring controlled slidable elements 13 bearing letters or other symbols which are made to appear at a window 12 on the insertion between the bars 18 of an element 20 bearing a figure and having a number of projections 22 which engage with the slidable elements 13 to move them to varying amounts so that there is exposed through the window 12 a series of letters forming a word related to the figure on the element 20. Several elements 20 with different figures and different arrangements of the projections 22 are provided. In a modification the slidable element 13 can be used in conjunction with a series of elements 20 each having one projection 22.
