[Class 106 (iii).] A ticket printing and issuing device particularly for use on vehicles has a fare printing member set consequent on the setting of starting and arrival station printing members. The arm 1 is positioned opposite the station on the scale 41 to bring the appropriate type on the disc 3 to printing position opposite the printing plate 20. The arm 2 is likewise set opposite the arrival station to bring the appropriate type on the disc 4 tc printing position. The setting operations of the discs 3 and 4 sets through differential gearing 5, 6, 7 the disc 8 which through bevel gearing 9, 10, 11 rotates the shaft 12 to rotate the fare printing drum 14 to bring the fare type to printing position that corresponds to the angle between the arms 1 and 2. A printing drum 13 is simultaneously set for printing on a checking strip. The ticket strip passes from the roll 21 over the printing plate 20, between the rollers 24, 25 to the aperture 40. The checking strip passes from the roll 27 over the printing plate 20 to the roll 28. The ink ribbon 29 passes from a roll 30 over the printing plate 20 to the roll 31. To print the lever 19 is raised to force the printing plate 20, ticket strip, and checking strip against the printing drums. On the downward movement of the lever 19, the click-wheel 23, gear 44 and rollers 25, 24 are driven to feed the ticket through the aperture 40, the ticket being severed by the knife 26 cutting across perforations in the strip. An indicator drum 15 visible from the outside through the aperture 45 and set by the strap 32 from the shaft 12 shows the fare to be printed. For printing additional fees the handle 36 is rotated to set ticket strip printing drum 34, checking strip printing drum 33 and indicating drum 35. It is stated in the Specification that the type discs and printing drums can be replaced by shiftable matrices in a straight line ; that the differential gearing for setting the fare printing drum can be replaced by a coupling mechanism which only comes into action when the setting of the arrival station oversteps the setting of the starting station ; that the scale 41 can be used for different lines ; that the printing of the different characteristics can take place successively instead of simultaneously, e.g. by having all the printing members in one rotatable printing drum, the printing of the arrival station and the fare taking place simultaneously ; that the device can be adapted for printing tickets for return journeys; and that additional devices, e.g. a time-stamp, a counter for numbering the tickets, and a total fare counter, may be provided which can be built in the printing- plate.
