413,276. Washing - machines. Mc- NAUGHTON, J. A., Nant Cottage, Llanrwst, Denbighshire, and BLACKBURN, A., Bron Celyn, Bettws-y-Coed, Carnarvonshire. Jan. 10, 1933, No. 796. [Class 138 (ii).] In a washing- machine wherein compressed air, which may be derived from a domestic vacuum cleaner, is forced into the water, the air is admitted to a chamber B<2> formed beneath the dished false bottom C of the machine and communicating with the machine proper through one or more rings of perforations c arranged near the periphery of the false bottom. By this means a circulation of water is created up the sides and down the middle of the machine. In order that the electric heater F may never be totally uncovered with water, small holes through which water passes downwardly may be provided in the lowest part of the false bottom. The heater may have two loadings, one for initial heating of the machine and the other to maintain the temperature, and the switches controlling the loadings are connected with the switch controlling the motor of the air compressor so that the latter cannot be operated whilst the machine is being initially heated. In the gas-heated form shown in Fig. 6 the chamber B<2> is in the form of an annulus.
