Abstract

409,917. Time switches. PAULITSCHEK, E., 31, Weisestrasse, Neuk÷lln, Berlin. June 15, 1933, No. 17087. Convention date, June 25, 1932. [Class 38 (v).] A time switch particularly for switching a radio set on and off at given times, comprises a double disc b, 11, driven by clockwork to rotate once in twenty-four hours. A series of pins c having enlarged central portions 13 are frictionally mounted in holes situated at frequent regular intervals round the edge of the disc, in such manner that when the pins are pushed inwards the enlarged central portions 13 just engage the tip of an escapement lever d, normally held by a spring against a stop r. Bearing against the upper corner 9 of the lever d is a pin f on a wheel e connected by gearing g, h to a clock spring l. Mounted on the same shaft as the gear h is an insulating lozengeshaped cam adapted on rotation to engage a contact spring k to open or close the circuit to the radio set. In operation, the pins c corresponding to the desired times of switching on and switching off are pushed inwards by means of a spring plunger p on a rotatable arm o. When the switching on time arrives the enlarged portion 13 of the pin c engages the tip of the lever d allowing the pin f to fall on to the lower corner 10 of the lever d until the latter is released by the pin c, thus releasing the pin f. The wheel e makes a complete revolution due to the clock spring l and the pin f again comes to rest against the upper corner 9 of the lever d. The cam has then made a quarter revolution and the circuit is completed. While the wheel e was making a revolution, a spiral cam n on the spindle engaged a lever m to depress its bent-round end 3 to push the pin c outwards into its non-operative position. When the next operative pin c comes round it engages the lever d as before to cause another complete revolution of the wheel e and a quarter revolution of the cam to open the circuit.
