Abstract

409,433. Loud - speakers. BRZESKI, H., 7, Szopena, Warsaw. Nov. 25, 1932, No. 33455. [Class 40 (iv).] In a loud-speaker, the magnetic field due to the speech currents is limited to a small space round the moving coil so that energy losses due to hysteresis and eddy currents are reduced. In one embodiment, the pole-pieces have inserts 15, 16, Fig. 1, of material of high magnetic permeability, such as permalloy or ferrocart. The former 13 on which the moving coil is wound may be of similar material. In another embodiment, two moving coils, Fig. 3, wound in opposite directions may be utilised, each driving separate oppositely directed diaphragms. This arrangement is stated to overcome the effect of energizing the magnet system with badly smoothed alternating current. Preferably the moving coil is wound in superposed layers, the potential difference between corresponding turns of adjacent layers being constant. The windings may be tapped and the sections connected in series, parallel or in series-parallel to adapt them to the amplifier, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). The leads 21, Fig. 1, from the moving coil are led to pins 20 contacting with springs 19 connected to terminals 18.
