[Class 86.] In apparatus for measuring and mixing liquid fuels in which separate measuring devices are provided from which the liquids are simultaneously conveyed through conduits with controlling devices, means are provided for maintaining a constant pressure in each conduit during the period of discharge. For this purpose, the measuring tank 4, Fig. 1A, may be provided with a constant level device comprising a float-operated byepass valve 29 which, upon the level becoming too high, returns the liquid from the supply pipe 3 through the byepass 3<1>; in another form the float is in a separate chamber and controls an admission valve. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the conduit 12 is furnished with a manometer and with a control valve 14 which is operated by a motor M when the pressure rises or falls. In this form, additional contacts may be provided in the manometer which become operative when the supply fails to effect, through relays, the stoppage of the apparatus. Fig. 8 shows the connections for one of the units of a plant in which each unit comprises a pump for supplying the measuring chamber and a separate pump for discharging it. The supply and discharge pumps are driven from motors connected with the terminals 103, 104 respectively the circuits including transformers 105, 106 operating relays 107, 108 respectively. The latter control cut-out relays 109. The motor operating the control valve of the supply conduit is connected with the terminals 111 and its direction of rotation is controlled by commutators 113, 113<1>. The manometer 11 is provided with contact pairs 114, 115 in the circuits of the commutators 113, 1131 to effect the operation of the control motor in accordance with the pressure. A further contact 116 is provided to effect the stoppage of the apparatus in the event of a failure of supply. Energisation of this circuit results in the opening of the switches 103 for the delivery pump motors through a relay 261.
